For romantic getaways Sunshine Coast delivers some sunkissed options. With gorgeous white sands next to beautiful blue waters, Mooloolaba Beach is hard to beat for a cosy sunrise beach walk. An invigorating ocean plunge in the ocean is always a great way to start a romantic getaway. 

If a sunset is more your scene, book a cruise along the Mooloolaba waterways on the MV Mudjimba and see the evening colours as the sun dips behind the Blackall Mountain Range. For a cruise with lunch, there’s a one-hour Mooloolaba Canal Cruise that takes you to the iconic Prawn Star for delicious seafood.

Make it exotic by booking a table in the tropical Asian-inspired surroundings of Spirit House Yadina restaurant. Set within a chilled out lagoons and pagodas, you’ll both be spoiled with dishes like BBQ Caramel Pepper Pork and Green Chu Chee Curry of Murray Cod. Book a cooking class and both learn some fancy skills (with lunch, dinner or wine thrown in). 

Some of Australia’s spectacular scenery can be found in this region, and the Glass House Mountains National Park is a national treasure. With plenty of beautiful walking trails to explore, take a rest at the picturesque lookouts and enjoy the incredible views. Established in 1886, the Warrnambool Art Gallery is Australia’s fifth oldest art collection institution and home to a huge collection of Australian art stretching from European era to contemporary. Warrnambool Art Gallery is also the custodian of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artefacts.

Famous for its headland overlooking Shelley Beach, the Ballina Lighthouse is a beautiful spot to relax, picnic or enjoy a stunning sunrise. A scenic half-hour drive along the coast to the famous Byron Bay, the Scandinavian styled Byron Bay Bathhouse will welcome you both with a mineral bath, sauna and plunge pool.

Enjoy a degustation experience overseen by renowned Chef Jamie Musgrave, from local produce and ingredients from the Botanic Garden itself.
